Floodlight suddenly will not turn off

Freddo20

I’ve had the outdoor flood light w/ camera installed for several years. It’s always worked fine until the last month when the floodlight doesn’t want to auto shut off.  I hadn’t made any adjustments in the app the light just decided that it always wanted to be on, day or night.
I can go into the google home app and turn the light off and the light will work as expected for the rest of the night until the next day when it will just be stuck on again. I don’t have any automations that I can find that effect the light. I’d rather not have to remember to shut the light off everyday.
The lights software vs is 515 according to the app.

Hi Freddo20,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your Nest Camera with floodlight, which has been working correctly for several years, has recently started staying on continuously, day and night. Thanks for confirming that you don't have any automation that is causing this and manually turning the light off through the Google Home app works temporarily, but the inconvenience returns the next day. I know how difficult it is when your Nest Camera with floodlight doesn't work as expected. I'll be glad to help you with this!

Let's perform a factory reset. This will restore your Nest Camera with floodlight to its original settings, and it will help me understand what's causing the inconvenience. Here are the steps:

Note: This will erase all your camera's settings and video history permanently. If you want to save anything, download it now.

1. Remove from the app:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Select your camera.
  • Go to "Settings" (usually a gear icon).
  • Tap "Remove device" and confirm.

2. Use the reset button:

  • The reset button is on the back of the camera head.
  • Press and hold it.
  • After 10 seconds, the light will blink yellow, and you'll hear a tone.
  • Keep holding until 12 seconds; the light will be solid yellow, and you'll hear another tone.
  • Release the button. The camera is now resetting.

Let me know how it goes!

Best regards,
