I installed a Google next 2nd generation wired doorbell on Christmas. When I look at all history I get 3 hours of info broken up into various events. The older events show moving preview of the event. The newer events are all stationary. Is this normal or is there a way to fix this?
Unless you have a Nest Aware subscription, with the newer cameras you get event video history for events that occurred within the most recent 3 hours. Google Nest does not say whether it retains still photos for events that are older than 3 hours, and I can't tell on ours because we have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, but it would be pretty odd to get event video history for older events and still photos for newer events. With a new camera or doorbell you also get a 30-day free trial Nest Aware subscription; is it possible your 30-day trial expired?
Thank you for commenting Mpls. I do not have Nest Aware unless it comes automatically when new. I'm not sure I am explaining my issue correctly. I do capture 3 hrs of event for full history on my iphone. Typically windows that encompass the 2nd and 3rd hour show moving previews of the event in a speed up fashion so you can tell if a person came to you door. The windows that comprise the most recent 1 hour event are like a still picture. As these recent one become older as time goes by they then also start to show moving previews. I was wondering if that is normal. It would be great to see previews for all events newer as well as older rather than have to open each of these up to go through. I hope I'm explaining this correctly. I am new to these cameras. Thanks again for replying to me.
I have not encountered the phenomenon where recent events (in the last hour) are shown as still photos, and then start to show as moving previews as they get older. I haven't seen any posts about this either. That seems pretty strange.
Hopefully, someone from Google Nest Support will comment, or perhaps another customer.
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. What phone are you using (Android, iOS)? Are there other family members who can access the camera? Do they have the same issue? Are there any Activity Zones set up for the camera? Also, try to use a different phone to see if it happens the same.
You could try to Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell to see if that helps.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
