Gen 2 Doorbell Not Chiming

CJShersh
Community Member

Hello! I just installed my nest gen 2 wired doorbell last Friday and immediately had issues with the chime. So I looked on here to find other people possibly had issues with it shorting out. I noticed that the screws were loose on the terminal and front of the door chime so I purchased a replacement.

I install the replacement, reattach the puck and it started working on the second press of the doorbell. Ding Dong, simple 16V door chime. Now, it doesn't work at all. Camera, Notifications, Lights and Chime on the Doorbell all seem to be fine. I just do not have an indoor chime.

Help.

@CJShersh

A number of Google Nest customers--including us--have reported in this forum that we had to upgrade from a 16V 10VA transformer to a 16V 30VA transformer to get either our older Google Nest Hello Doorbells or the newer 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbells to work, even though that's more than Google Nest's stated minimum requirement (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132).

I already have one. It’s a new house and located in the garage.

@CJShersh

I've seen a few posts in this forum from customers who had defective "chime pucks" for the 2nd gen doorbell.  I think they had to get a complete replacement in order to get a replacement puck.

How do I go about contacting someone for a chime puck?

@CJShersh

You would have to try contacting Support, starting with the link below. On the "Resources" page, click "Next step" (and do NOT click on any of the Help topics) to get to the page with contact choices (chat and phone).

Hi there,

Chiming in — just one final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

I appreciate the help, @MplsCustomer and Lance.

Kind regards,

Jenelyn
