Getting started with nest doorbell gen 2 wired

I feel so stupid but I'm so confused.  I had purchased a battery doorbell a couple years ago and it was fine until someone managed to knock it off and break the camera lense.  Now I want to buy a wired one so that hopefully I don't have to deal with this again.  Setting up the battery one was simple.  Get it charged up and get it to communicate with the hub.  That's it.  I don't understand the wired system because I can't seem to find an explanation.  I have the wires inside the house and also at the door.  So I think I've got that covered.  Apparently I have to buy a new indoor transformer and chime?  I know I need the transformer because the prior owner of the house took all of the inside doorbell parts down, so all that is there are wires.

Does everything go thru the hub like before or is it like a regular doorbell or maybe it's both?  Do I need to buy a chime for the new box and transformer or will it ring just through the hub?  If I have a mini nest too, will the sound of the doorbell or notice of someone on the porch be heard through it too?  Can someone please help me make sense of this.  I'm not usually this slow, but for some reason I just can't grasp how this is all going to work.

Google, you are so good at coming up with products for us to believe we can't live without them.  However I feel like this item is a bit of a tease.  I want to buy a bundle that just gives me everything I will need along with good instructions.  Make a bundle that puts the correct wattage of transformer, a chime with the box if we need one.  If we can't have it as a bundle, at least give us a complete list of the items that will need.   And finally maybe a video of how to get it all together.

@Ty60

Google Nest has always assumed that its wired doorbells (the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell and the Google Nest Hello Doorbell) would simply be connected to the 2 wires previously connected to the previous doorbell, and those two doorbell wires would already run to an existing indoor doorbell chime and transformer. If your previous owner removed the chime and the transformer, you're on your own for replacing and wiring them; Google Nest does not provide any instructions.  (I'm just another customer.)

Google Nest's wired doorbells come with a chime puck or chime transformer that gets connected to your indoor doorbell chime; see the diagrams here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12153643 and the installation video here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12570869

It is possible to connect the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell to a plug-in adapter like the one OhmKat produces (https://www.ohmkat.com/products/ohmkat-video-doorbell-power-supply-compatible-with-nest-hello-no-exi...), but you need an outlet near your door to plug in the adapter. Ohmkat also sells a wireless chime that works with its adapter (https://www.ohmkat.com/products/universal-wireless-video-doorbell-chime).  Google Nest also sells a plugin adapter, but their website says its for the Google Nest Hello Doorbell and the battery doorbell.

A few customers in this forum have posted about wiring their 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell directly to a transformer without a chime, but it's not clear whether the chime puck is needed in that instance.

If you wire your 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell without an indoor doorbell chime, you can turn off the "Indoor chime" option and turn on the "Visitor announcements" option (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) and get announcements on your Nest Hub or Nest Mini or other Nest speaker. (But the doorbell still needs to be connected to a transformer or adapter to provide it with power.)

Thanks for the reply.  Do you know if the doorbell ringing or some notification will come through my google hub?  I had the battery operated one and it did but I'm guessing because it wasn't connected to an actual doorbell.

@Ty60

As I indicated above, if you connect your doorbell directly to a transformer without connecting it to an indoor doorbell chime, you can turn on "Visitor announcements" to get announcements on your Nest Hub or Nest Mini.
