Google Doorbell (battery) notification doesn’t make sound (iPhone)

Hi,

This appears to be a problem numerous users have reported, but can’t seem to get any resolution. When the door bell button is pressed, a push notification silently appears on iPhone and does not make a sound. On Apple Watch when the notification comes through, it vibrates, but if you aren’t wearing (or don’t have) the watch, the notification is useless.

My iPhone is on the current version of iOS, all notification selections are on, and the volume is up. Please fix this Google.

@VJaron88

On your iPhone, under Settings | Notifications | Google Home, do you have "Sounds" turned on?

In your Watch app, under Notifications, do you have "Mirror iPhone alerts" turned on for the Google Home app?

I get a ping sort of sound on my Apple Watch, and when not wearing the watch I get the standard notification sound on my iPhone XR (which on iOS 17.2 can now be configured under Settings | Sounds & Haptics | Default Alerts.

Hi,

Yes, sounds is turned on. Still when the doorbell is pressed, on my iPhone, only the slide notification is shown with no alert sound.

I suppose you could try deleting and reinstalling your Google Home app. (You don't lose any settings; you just log back on with the same credentials you're using now.)

Are you by any chance on the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app?  Maybe there's a glitch in that version.

If you can't resolve it, you could try contacting Support using the link and instructions in the post below:

Hi everyone,

@VJaron88, I wanted to check if you still need help with the Nest doorbell. Have you had any chance to see MplsCustomer’s suggestions above? If yes, how was it?

Also, here’s a handy guide to help you troubleshoot Nest camera alerts.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance

Hi Lance,

I’ve deleted and reinstalled the Google Home app and im not using it in “Public Preview” mode. I have not attempted to contact support yet as I don’t believe they’ll see this as a problem that can be resolved. Otherwise, by now, the numerous other users that have written about this device not making an audible tone when the doorbell is pressed, would have been solved by now.

Hello folks

@VJaron88, this is not the experience we want you to have and we really wanted to help you with this. How was your notification after you reinstalled your Google Home app? What is the iOS version (17.x.x) of your iPhone?

Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and Lance.

Regards,

Emerson
