Google Home Automations with Nest Hello Events

I want to use Google Automations with my Nest Hello doorbell camera as the "starter", but only for a specific event zone.

I have transferred the Nest Hello to the Google Home app and I have created the activity zone (i.e. without the main road), within Google Home, by going to the camera, Settings, Events, and Activity Zones.

I am offered two options: - Events and Motion.

Events shows a blank box.

Motion reacts to motion everywhere.

How do I get Google Automations to pick up the Activity Zone I created?

Hi TwoTruths,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation you are experiencing with the automations and Nest Hello events that are not working as expected because they do not react to motion anywhere. I appreciate the steps that you have already taken to solve the situation. Don't worry; help is here. Here are some steps that you can try:
First of all, you can delete all the activity zones that you have on the Google Home app; check the steps below:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > Cameras > your camera.
  3. Tap Settings > Events > Seen events.
  4. Select the zone you want to delete.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete zone.

After that, you can try to create just one activity zone and test if that automation works with that one. Follow the steps below to create it:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home > Cameras > your camera.
  3. Tap Settings > Events > Seen events.
  4. Choose + Add a zone. The new zone appears in the middle of the camera’s view.
  5. Change the shape of the zone to capture what you want.
    • Turn your phone to go into landscape mode for a full screen of your camera’s view. Make sure the screen rotation setting on your phone is on.
    • Tap and drag inside the zone to move it.
    • Tap and drag any of the 8 dots on the sides of the zone to change its shape.
  6. To change the color of the Activity Zone, tap Zone color. You can pick from 4 different colors.
  7. Under the camera view, tap on the Zone name to give your zone a descriptive name.
  8. Under Event History, you can choose which types of events you want to record in that zone and which notifications you want to receive.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny
