Google Home Camera Support

Hello.  I currently monitor my Nest Doorbell and several indoor Nest cameras using the Google Home APP.  I recently heard that Google Home was going away where I'll eventually not be able to monitor my cameras using that platform.  I suppose that everything eventually goes away but is there any current truth to what I heard?  Thank you.

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but I have not heard of any plans to discontinue the Google Home app. How would we be able to access any of our devices?

I suspect that at some point in the future, Google Nest may discontinue the Google Nest app, but they still haven't implemented any process for us to move our older cameras and doorbells to the Google Home app (except for a beta test available for customers to move 1st gen indoor cameras to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app).

Thanks.  As I'm sure you know, Google has done away with the Nest Guard product (effective April, 2024) so none of my window or door sensors will continue working but I expect to continue using Google Home to monitor my cameras.  I'm not interested in migrating to any sort of ADT service.  I'm currently evaluating other services to in effect arm my windows and doors such as Yolink.  I just purchased a few more Nest cameras for Google Home access - I've been using Google Home to monitor my cameras for quite some time and I'm not using any sort of Beta system, max support is 10 cameras. In your opinion, is there anything else I should investigate?  Yolink looks great to me.  Thanks again.

@Home630

I don't know anything about Yolink, but you should be able to continue using the Google Home app for your cameras. We use it for our cameras and Nest Hubs.

Thanks for the follow up.  Yes, I read those responses.  Unfortunately, I've been disappointed in the past with what is "supposed" to happen so I canceled my additional camera orders to see what transpires in early April of 2024 when the plug is pulled on the Nest Secure/Guard products.  In theory my Home App should continue as is so we'll see.  Thanks again.  If you have any additional information, I'd be happy to read it.

Hey there,

I’m sorry for the late response, and thanks for getting back to us. Aside from Dropcam and Nest Guard, all Nest cameras will still continue to work both on the Nest app and the Google Home app as long as your account is migrated to Google. We’re working on adding more features and improvements. Stay tuned for updates.

Best,
Edmond
