Google Nest Camera (battery) and Wasserstein PoE adapter woes

I am using a Google Nest Camera (battery), a Wasserstein PoE adapter, and a PoE+ switch (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LHL1Q2Z?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). When I plug the adapter in to the switch, all appears normal with green and amber lights solid. When I turn on the camera using battery only all also appear normal and I can view live video just fine.

However, when I plug the adapter in to the camera the camera turns off and becomes unreachable via the Google Home app. In addition, the green and amber lights on the adapter both rapidly flash, which strikes me as there being a problem of some sort (but that's a guess).

I've checked that the camera has the latest firmware, I've tried the switch linked above and another new one by TP-LINK, I've tried multiple ethernet cables, multiple Google Nest Cameras, and multiple of the adapters. All of these items except the cables are brand new and the cables work otherwise outside of these tests.

I've tried reaching out to Wasserstein, but unfortunately that's led nowhere. I'm stumped what the issue could be and can't seem to find anything online about solving such problems using these adapters. Help!

We've had a battery camera for almost 17 months, plugged in with the optional power cable.  Is the cord from the Wasserstein PoE adapter plugged in with the cord feeding towards the FRONT of the camera?  Is the plug seated securely?   (Other battery camera customers have been tripped up by having their charging cord or power cable plugged in backwards, or with problems seating the plug in the bottom of the camera.)

It is correctly plugged in and seated securely. I truly wish it was that simple.

I did find a Cable Test feature on the switch and it gives a result of "Short" when the adapter is plugged in to the switch (with or without it being plugged in to the camera). I have four of these adapters and all of them are reporting similarly. When I run the same test with just the ethernet cable plugged in it gives a result of "Open" as you'd expect.

A couple of Amazon customers of the Wasserstein adapter report they received bad adapters. I have no experience with them.

Hi everyone,

@mandrake2112 thanks for posting here in the Community and for sharing with us your concern. To confirm, where did you purchase your Wasserstein PoE adapter? Do you have any light status from your Nest Camera while connected to your adapter? It could be that your adapter is not compatible or not providing enough power to your Nest Camera that why it's not turning on. Let us know if you have more questions in mind.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Emerson
