Google Nest Doorbell Factory reset NOT working

kayakbear
Community Member

My Google nest doorbell is NOT factory resetting. I’ve pressed and held the reset button 10-12 seconds and nothing happens except the light stays white and then it goes with the button lit up, then nothing.

Reset does not work but this is super frustrating as this is less than 1 year old.

Just to confirm, you’re pushing the button on the back using a paper clip or other pointed tool that fits the pin hole?

Im having the exact same issue. Google Doorbell battery version which seems to have mysteriously stopped working at 80% battery according to google home.

Have tried numerous time using the simcard release key to reset and no outcome. I've also attached to my PC via USB and no response.

Exactly!! Same situation.

Hello everyone,

@kayakbear I'm sorry to hear if you can't factory reset your Nest doorbell. To confirm, do you have the battery or wired Nest doorbell? Hit this link for the steps.

@Peter88 try plugging it into its USB charger and make sure it has power when you try to reset it. You may as well hit the link I provided for the steps.

Keep me posted.

@Rubes I appreciate your help.

Regards,

Emerson

I have the battery version. Why even ask for product labels if specialists aren't going to read?

The steps did not work. That is why I'm asking. Product is less than 1 year old, seems to have bricked itself. Super unhappy with this.

Hi kayakbear,

I'm sorry, I didn't see from your previous posts that you have the battery type of Nest doorbell. Anyway, have you tried restarting it first before resetting it to the factory default? You may also try connecting it to its USB charging cable while doing the reset.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,
Emerson

Same problem. Factory reset doesn't work. Followed all the steps. Even for other models. After 5 seconds the white light turns on. I keep pushing the reset button but no sound or light appears. When I release the bottun it stays white for a few seconds en turns off. After a while it turns green and the ring becomes solid white. Battery version. Tried it with and without the usb phone charger connected. Nothing works. Doorbell is 5 months old.

I've sent the doorbell back to the seller. A new doorbell has been ordered. Hopefully it will work for longer than 5 months.
