Google Nest Doorbell Wired 2nd Generation UK release

I think I am finally going to throw in the towel for the release of this doorbell in the UK or Europe for that matter. For months now I have been waiting and waiting for some sort of news, hell, confirmation that it is to be released but there has been absolute silence from Google on this.  All I needed was confirmation that the plan is to release it at some point and I would have been fine with that but every time I or someone asks the simple question to Google we just get a dumb response of we have no news to share but keep an eye on this community.  It’s bad enough not being told anything as it is but with many Nest Hello’s peeling, failing and simply breaking down on loyal Google Nest customers, time is not on our hands.  I am now at my tipping point and I will look elsewhere to replace my Nest Hello before it totally fails on me.  Luckily I have just the peeling problem at the moment although it makes my front entrance look a right mess! But as every day passes and more stories of doorbells playing up, along with the Nest app being abandoned I for one have had enough of waiting.  When it came to security I was all in with Google too, including the full Nest Aware subscription but now starting with my doorbell the time has come to move on.  They normally say no news is good news but in reality with Google no news is no respect….to all of the loyal UK and EU customers.

Yes! Google, please at least tell us IF this will release. I've held out for 6 months now, its just annoying not knowing. I'll either buy the 1st Gen, or I'll buy a different product entirely, but the limbo of waiting to see if the 2nd Gen will be available at some point is frustrating. Would prefer a specific date, but at least give us a yay or nay on WHETHER it will arrive at some point.

@Selfhealer  You are so right that this is totally disrespectful of Google to say absolutely nothing useful about the release of the 2nd gen wired doorbell outside US/Canada. I’ve gone through all the posts on this community on this question and it’s the same reply given time and time again. “We love your enthusiasm! But we have no news to share.” Absolutely ridiculous that’s it’s been so long since the initial release. It’s now mid-June and I’ve been waiting for ages to buy one for my new place as I didn’t want to get a 1st gen one with the possibility of the 2nd gen coming out soon after. 

Have given up waiting and will definitely be looking for an alternative now. Any recommendations welcome.

Hi Edmond, thank you for replying. I noticed for a quite a while now there has been no news on when the second generation nest will arrive in the UK.  Are you able to contact google to get an answer from them?  The second generation has been available for a long time in the USA so Google must know their schedule for releasing it in other countries?

You seem to have misunderstood my question, or more likely chose to ignore to answer my specific question.
To ask this question in a slightly different way that is hopefully crystal clear…why is Google not giving us outside the US any information on the release of this and choosing not sharing any news? Particularly given there are clear questions from this community on this that no one has answered directly. 
Please do let me know if I need to ask this question again in a different way if it’s unclear what I’m exactly getting at.

Do you have an actual contact in google to ask them about release dates for the second generation doorbell in the Uk?

Are google planning to release  the 2nd generation nest doorbell at all in UK? If so, then they should know the release date.

if google are categorically not going to release it in the UK then we can all stop wasting our  time on these forums.

Please, please, please do not reply saying “we have no news”.  If feels like an easy way to avoid answering the question we are all asking. Surely somebody in google must know something to help their customers…

unfortunately it looks like I need to ask the question again… I will capitalise and bold it where it looks like there’s misunderstanding on the key part not being answered for ease. 

WHY is there no news to share and WHY is google refusing to say anything about the release of the next gen doorbell outside of the US?

I’ll give you a hint that the answer is not “we have no news to share” as that does not answer the WHY. 

Your answer should begin with “The reason Google is not saying anything about releasing the next gen doorbell outside of the US is because ….”

Please can you kindly fill out the second half of the sentence.

Why is Google dumping their old Gen 1 devices in the UK/EU for a higher price than their new and improved Gen 2 devices? Do you take us for fools!

Google obviously won't be releasing this model in the UK due to issues with getting CE clearance and just may as well just focus on a newer model!!

Shame as the US version does work fine with UK currents!!

Have you actually asked somebody in the relevant Google nest door bell 2nd generation team the precise question if they will ever release the doorbell in the UK or not?  The generic "I wish I can provide you a timeframe..." sounds like another unhelpful statement that has no substance.  Have you asked a specific question to the right team in Google and what was their precise answer?  

It would be good to know if there is no intention at all to release the second generation doorbell in the UK and then we can all stop wasting our time!
