Google Nest Wired Camera Floodlights on Google Home showing different battery lifes

I have 5 wired cameras with floodlights. 3 consistently show 100% but 2 show lower amounts. Why would these 2 not also show 100%?

@Keith171

We've had a battery camera (the same camera used in the floodlight fixture) for over 3 years, plugged in with the optional power cable. Normally we cannot see the battery level, since Settings | Battery only shows "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol, but if we unplug the camera, the battery level has always been between 77% and 100%; there's no pattern to it, but the battery has always remained charged.  (I just unplugged it now to check; it's at 100%.)  The camera runs off of household current since it is plugged in; I don't know how or when Google Nest decides when to recharge the battery.

If your cameras are always connected to power, you shouldn't have to worry about the battery level.  However, I have seen several posts in this forum from floodlight camera owners who have reported that the battery on their floodlight camera has depleted even though the camera is plugged in; that shouldn't happen.

Hi Keith171,

Thank you for posting in the community. I apologize that two of your five Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight don't show 100% of the battery charge. I really appreciate the help, @MplsCustomer. I understand how frustrating this must be. I can help you with that.

Before I proceed. I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Have the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight been powered on?
  • Did the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight work when they were first installed? If yes, how long has it been since the initial installation?
  • Were there any changes made with the setup, settings, or Google Home app for the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight?
  • Are you using the USB cable and adapter that shipped with the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight?
  • Are the ends of the cables plugged into the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight? Are the logos visible on the USB connectors when viewing the back of the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlights?
  • Are the cables fully and securely plugged into both the Nest Wired Cameras with Floodlight and the adapters?
  • Are there any kinks, frays, or signs of damage on the cables?
  • Have you tried using an alternative cable, plug, and socket? If so, what were the results?

Please keep me posted. I'll forward your response.

Regards,

Byron
