I have had the doorbell just less than a year and after a few problems to begin with it has been working fine until the last couple of times that it has needed recharging. Usually it reminds me via the Home app when the battery is low and then shows as recharging when it's plugged in, both in the app and with the charging light on the unit itself. Now however it doesn't give reminders except when the camera switches off to save power and when I plug the unit in via the USB cable that it came with it doesn't show as charging or have a status light. It does seem to charge when plugged in but a lot slower than it should: 8hrs overnight gave me about 20% charge.
I haven't tried anything to fix this yet. Is there something I can try?
Thanks!

Hi @tim_d
Sorry to hear that it isn't charging as it once did. I will send this post over to our community specialists and see if they know of any bugs or known issues.
In the meantime here is a link to the Help Center for the battery doorbell: Troubleshoot low battery issues for Nest cameras and doorbells - Android - Google Nest Help

Thanks @JillG
Did you pass this on as I have had no response yet?
I had already looked though that Help Centre article thanks and not found anything helpful for my problem.

I did escalate but I'll give them a nudge right now.
Thanks for letting me know---

To update: I had the doorbell on charge after the battery went down to 2%. In over 24 hours of charging I've just plugged it back in and it is saying 46% charged. As with before there was no charging indicator and the Home app was acting as if the doorbell was still mounted on the wall.
Amy help/ideas would be great please 🙂

Hi @JillG, thanks for the update.
In response to the queries:
I'd also like to reiterate that the doorbell doesn't detect being unmounted in the Home app suggesting, maybe, that it's not necessarily a fault with the charging equipment?

I'll forward that over to the team...thanks!!!

The same thing happened to my doorbell also starting a few weeks ago. It doesn't charge anymore. Feels to me like an update bricked it

Hello there,
@tim_d, thanks for the update. We got the form you've submitted — thanks for filling that out. Please keep an eye on your email, as someone from our team will reach out to you to assist you more.
@marcel4, have you checked for your Nest Doorbell’s charging port if it’s clean? If not, use a clean, dry cotton swab to clean off any dirt build up on your doorbell’s charging port.
I appreciate your help, Juni.
Cheers,
Zoe

Hey, on my end, I had to factory reset the doorbell, then it started charging again.
Kind of bizarre, but all worked out in the end

Thanks!
The problem might have solved itself now. I went away for a week during which time the doorbell (still mounted) battery ran completely flat. On my return I took it off the wall and plugged it in and it charged fine. The charging light was on, the Home app said it was charging and would be fully charged in four or so hours. It has since completely charged, notified me that charging was complete and is now back by my front door and apparently working properly.
I'm not sure why this seems to shave suddenly fixed itself. It may have been that I let the battery completely run flat but I also noticed that once the doorbell was remounted after charging the Home app had been updated while I was away. So whether it was an app update that fixed it I don't know!
