I recently had to rewire my Google Nest doorbell (which had been working for years without issue). Now, the doorbell chimes at the door but not on the mechanical doorbell inside the house. My "Nest" app is loaded and appears to work fine on my phone (I can see the video and I get announcements when the bell is rung).
However when I go into my Google Home App, I don't see the doorbell in my list of devices. When I try to add the Google Nest doorbell to my Google Home App, it cannot "discover" the doorbell. I have to go through the steps of scanning the QR code. However as soon as the QR code registers (I hear a ding), the process stops and brings me back to the "add device" screen in the Google Home App. Once there, I still don't see my Nest doorbell in my list of devices.
I am pretty sure that my mechanical indoor doorbell is not chiming because of a setting in Google Home. It is almost like it is in the Google Home App but hidden somehow. I am using an iPhone or iPad. Can someone offer suggestions please

Great news. My wife found a Google Nest telephone line to call 844-229-2208 and I was on the phone with the tech and he walked me through the reconnect process. Basically you have to hold your reset button in on each device for at least 30 seconds to do a factory reset. It goes through 2 sets of tones. Then you see a blue light on the front of the camera. Then you go through the normal Add Device function in the app. Hope you are successful.

I am having the same problems only mine involves problems after installing a replacement ATT router. I have spent hours trying everything in their help columns.

The 1st gen wired Google Nest Hello Doorbell cannot be added to the Google Home app. It is supposed to automatically appear in the Google Home app if the doorbell is installed in the Google Nest app, AND you have migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account (as we did in 2020), AND you are logging onto both apps with the same Google Account, AND you are logging into the Google Home app using the "Sign on with Google" option.
I don't think there are any settings in the Google Home app that would affect your indoor doorbell chime; the Google Nest Hello Doorbells are still not eligible to be "transferred" to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.
Is your chime connector still wired correctly (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Wiring-diagram/m-p/24455)? Is your "Indoor chime" option still turned on for your doorbell? If you disconnect your doorbell and touch the two doorbell wires together, does your indoor doorbell chime ring?

So that is a lot to take in for someone who is less familiar with the apps. First of all, the doorbell does work when I connect the two wires at the door, So I know it is not a wiring problem. Both Google Home and Nest are on the same Google account. I don't know how to migrate an account but this does not seem to be what my issue is. I don't have an "indoor chime" setting in my Google Home App (probably because I cannot see my Nest inside the Google Home App). I think that is what is messing me up, somehow Nest has maybe partially migrated into the Home App and it is set with the indoor chime off and I cannot see or change it. There is a later post that suggests doing a reset of the Nest unit, I think I will try that as my next step.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the tip, I cleared the app off my phone and reset the Nest doorbell to factory reset. Everything works fine now. That old computer adage, "when it doesn't work, reboot"!
