1st google home doorbell is a turkey; has a non replaceable battery so when doorbell is pressed video DOESNT WORK.
im sadly stuck in the google home ecosystem bc they’re all secular and dont wanna play nicely together and be compatible.
be me; buy the Google doorbell 2nd gen instead of replacing all cameras for ring cameras by Amazon.
get electrician to install . Works fine for an hour or two. Check the next day; “device offline” while all other Google cameras are ok and working:
try to contact Google support. lol as you know that’s a joke. They start a ticket 🎟️ instead of getting an Indian tech support guru.
so fine while I wait another 48 hours (and still no response) I bugger around and eventually do a hard reset via pin for 20 seconds. This hard reboots and I reinstall it. Voila it works again.
until the next day I wake up to see the device is offline again despite having a steady green light.
what the actual fudge. This is for an elderly lady 84 security , other wise I wouldn’t bother. I’m incredibly angry bc Google is far from Apple products and customer support. If they didn’t make terrible products like the first google doorbell and this second one. I’m considering changing all cameras for nest.
why can’t it just *work*?
also you don’t hate google enough. The QR code is insanely tiny, as are the letters, there is no user manual, no phone support, no chime support, no way to use a different remote chime, let alone the Google home app doesn’t play nicely as the nest app used to, nor does it play the eufy cameras at all that are supposedly compatible.
just boycott google. They’re terrible. Apple, Amazon have my consistent customer satisfaction. I’m sad I ever got anything Google. Evil
