Hi @MJM11

You can find the IP (water resistant rating) HERE.

Water Resistance

Your Nest Doorbell is weather  resistant in accordance with its IP54 rating,  but it is not waterproof.  Weather  resistance is not a permanent condition and may be compromised by normal wear and tear, repair, disassembly, or damage. Don’t expose your Nest Doorbell to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. The device charger cable is not water resistant and should not be exposed to liquids.

Thanks for this, I’ve seen this guidance but find it a little ambiguous. Perhaps the question is phrased better as: Is one of the intended uses to be mounted outside where the doorbell will be regularly exposed to rain?

Hi @MJM11

IP54 is capable of use outside in the rain. 🙂

Yes, the Google Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed to withstand rain. It has an IP54 rating, which means it is Best Working resistant to dust and can handle water splashes from any direction, including rain. However, it's important to note that it is not fully waterproof, so it's recommended to install it in a sheltered area for optimal protection against heavy rainfall.
