In our experience, the speakers on Google Nest's cameras are not particularly loud, and wouldn't work well for someone with hearing difficulties.

No the sound was working fine for 12 mths..then around 22 may 2023 there were issues and its still continuing. I can hear loud and clear in fact it is very loud, but mum cannot hear any incoming sound very well and sometimes  not at all. She has excellent hearing.

Hey Maryannemancuso,

I'm sorry for the delay. Please follow the steps below to check if the talk and listen feature is properly set up.

  1. Check the Google Home app or Nest app permissions:
    • For Android users: Go to the phone’s Settings Apps Google Home or Nest Permissions, and make sure Microphone is enabled.
    • For iOS users: Go to the device’s Settings Google Home or Nest Permission, and make sure Microphone is enabled.
  2. Test if the device’s microphone is working.
  3. Open the default voice recorder app or any other app that uses your device’s microphone and test the device’s microphone on the app.
  4. Check if the device is connected to a Bluetooth device that may be serving as the microphone.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jenelyn
