Google doorbell is not working with Google nest mini gen 2

I had to reset my Google nest mini speaker because it would not connect to Wi-Fi. I did get it reset and it is connected to Wi-Fi, but I’m not getting notifications from my Google doorbell to my Google nest speaker when someone is there. I cannot figure out how to get that set up again. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!




Are your Nest Mini and your doorbell in the same Google Nest "home/structure" on the same Google Account? Do you still have "Visitor announcements" turned on for your doorbell? Is "Do not disturb" turned off on your Nest Mini?

To make it simple, Yes, Yes, and Yes. That's what is so confusing... thought maybe I was missing something.


That is strange. If it were me, I'd try a couple of easy things in an effort to trigger it to work again. First, turn "Visitor announcements" off, ring the doorbell, and then turn it on again. Second, turn the doorbell off and on by turning off the circuit for the doorbell.

I have no reason to believe these will do anything, but at least they should be low-risk.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did try turning different settings off and then back on... no luck!


Do you by any chance have the newer battery doorbell or the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell?  I've seen posts from customers complaining they can't get "Visitor announcements" to work with these newer doorbells--with no clear resolution.

Yes, I do! It was working yesterday... for some reason, it works, then it doesn't! I am SOOO DISAPPOINTED with ADT! And, GOOGLE!


I'm just another Google Nest customer without any further suggestions. We have 3 of the older Google Nest Hello Doorbells and "visitor announcements" seem to work just fine with our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini (though they ALL go off and are not quite in sync).

@Candiopax thanks for reaching out here in the Community and for sharing with us the troubleshooting steps you've done. To confirm, how many Nest Mini speakers do you have? Do you have the wired or battery type of Nest Doorbell?


Give these steps a try:

  • Reinstall your Nest app or Google Home app.
  • Reset your Nest Doorbell to the factory default. Remember that after the reset, all of your recorded events will get removed.

Hi Emerson!  I have only one Nest Mini speaker, and the battery Nest Doorbell.  BIG mistake getting the battery doorbell, but I had no choice, as my wired doorbell system in the house is not working. It can take 4-6 hours, sometimes more, to charge the doorbell and its NON-REMOVABLE battery. At least with the Ring Set-up I purchased an extra battery to swap when one needed charged.   As far as the incident everyone was helping me with, I have it working, at least it is for now... Thank You!
