Google indoor Nest Cam 2th gen

Hi,

I purchased a new 2nd gen indoor Google Nest Cam but it does not appear in my Nest app. All my other Nest cams and Nest doorbell are working fine with the Nest app. I had to set up the new cam with Google Home but I want to continue with Nest.

Any ideas?

Google Nest decided that its newer cameras and doorbells released starting in Sept. 2021 would work ONLY in the Goggle Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app.  We've had to use both apps since getting a battery camera 19 months ago.

Thanks for the reply.
What’s the reason for this? Has it something to do with the delay in the Google Nest app?

regards Mark

@amfibee

A lot of us long-time Google Nest customers would also like to know why, since the Google Nest app's user interface is so much better than the Google Home app's user interface when it comes to cameras.

I don't know what you mean by "the delay in the Google Nest app".

This is Google Nest's explanation, from Sept. 2021:

The Google Nest has some delay, 3 to 10 sec when someone uses the Nest Hello doorbell or my other Nest cams detect some movement.
Also I miss the option to create zones in Google Home. In Google Nest you can create detection zones for all cameras.

@amfibee

You CAN create activity zones in the Google Home app. Go to your camera in the Google Home app and go to Settings | Events | Seen events.

I managed to create activity zones in the Google Home app for the Nest Cam 2nd gen but I can't create activity zones for my other Nest camera's and Nest Hello. In other words, I don't see all the options in Google Home which the 2nd gen has. These cams are all connected to the old Nest app. Do I have to remove them from the Nest app and connect them to Google Home only?

@amfibee

We have to continue to use the Google Nest app to administer our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells originally installed in the Google Nest app, while using the Google Home app to administer our newer Google Nest cameras and doorbells originally installed in the Google Home app. It's Google Nest's 2-app solution. We've been using 2 apps ever since we bought a battery camera 19 months ago.

I hope Google comes with a solution that we can use one app for all Nest products.
For what I understood is that they are continuously working on the Google Home app
