Google indoor/outdoor camera wifi issue

Hi folks I'm have trouble getting my camera set up with my WiFi.

I've just switched providers and the new modem is a 2.4ghz/5ghz router.

I've tried turning 2.4/5ghz synchronisation off, tried renaming the different bands and also ensuring my phone was on the the 2.4ghz band whilst trying to set up the camera again.

Nothing seems to be working so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

We have moved from Texas to Tennessee and I can’t seem to change the Wi-Fi. I have started a new device and went through all the steps and it won’t connect. What should I do?

Hi @Momgodess58

I got a reply from the Google complaint team. I followed the instructions on the link they gave me.

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162?hl=en#zippy=%2Cnest-cam-battery-or-nest-cam-wit...

The main thing was to complete the factory reset by holding down the tiny little button on the back for at least 12 seconds. It worked for me so hopefully does the same for you

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing with us what you've done. I'm sorry to hear if you're having issues with the Wi-Fi of your Nest Camera. To know more about this, I'd like to ask some questions: are you getting any error messages? How far is the camera from the router? Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?

Give these steps a try:

  • Try removing your Nest Camera from your Nest app or Google Home app.
  • Reset your actual Nest Camera to the factory default. Remember that after the reset, all of your recorded events will get removed as well.
  • Re-add your Nest Camera to your app.
  • Hit this link for more information.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson

Hi Ebedia,

There are no microwaves, baby monitors or cordless phones near the camera.

It's is roughly 2 metres away from the router (though when in trying to get it to connect it's more like 1 metre).

I've already removed it from my home network and reset it, and it won't reconnect to the network.

The only error message it displays is 'set up failed, try and move the camera closer to your phone). The camera is practically touching the phone so that obviously isn't an issue.

Any other options?

Thanks
