Google nest camera setup stuck during update - solution

I noticed there are many unresolved discussions about this issue, so I thought it would be helpful to share my solution.

Initially, the update process got stuck at 45%. I performed a factory reset and tried again, but this time it stalled at 39%. When it froze, I noticed from my Wi-Fi console that the device was offline.

I suspect two potential reasons for this issue:

  1. Depleted Battery: The device might have been in the box for so long that the battery was completely drained. During the update, it could have lost power and failed to restart.

  2. Wi-Fi Band Conflict: My Wi-Fi setup combines both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It's possible that the device switched to the 5GHz band during the update, causing a connection issue.

Solution:

  • I charged the device for a few minutes to ensure the battery had sufficient power.
  • Using my Wi-Fi console, I located the offline device, identified the camera, and set it to prefer the 2.4GHz band.
  • After making these adjustments, I retried the update, and it completed successfully without any issues.
