Google nest doorbell 2nd gen wired use in another country

The wired doorbell isn’t available to buy in Australia, is there any reason why it wouldn’t work to import a US version? Will the google home app set up in Australia, recognise a US product. Will it be available for the nest aware subscriptions, we have 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi here on our routers. We only have the battery version to purchase here, but it would be nice to have pre-roll and 24/7 recordings as an option. Has anyone successfully used a gen 1 wired doorbell in Australia?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's geo-locked. Google has happily disabled functionality on my cameras due to my state, so disabling a product where it's not sold isn't off the table

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. If you try to use a device out of its country of origin, cloud services will not work properly, and it may have many other connectivity issues, so this is not recommended.

Hi, thanks for the replies, It’s hard to know what to do. I have spoken to someone who has a gen 1 wired from the US and says it works great. But, I don’t want to be the first to have tried the 2 gen and find it doesn’t work. Maybe it will be best, not open it and try to resell the item. It’s a shame because it sounds like an awesome product, but with limited support.
