Google nest doorbell (battery) setup and chime

haroon597

Hi, I've set up a google nest doorbell (battery) and a nest mini hub at home. I'm looking to set up a chime so that I can hear when someone rings the doorbell. At the moment the mini hub shows a live feed when someone rings and I do get a visitor announcement. I have checked under the Google Home app, under doorbell the "Ring indoor chime" is greyed out so i'm unable to turn it on. Any suggestions??

@haroon597

The "Indoor chime" setting on the battery doorbell is apparently automatically grayed out and disabled when the battery doorbell is NOT wired to an indoor doorbell chime and a doorbell transformer. Do you have an indoor doorbell chime and transformer and is your battery doorbell wired to them?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I don't have a chime or transformer but happy to be recommended one. I just want something that works with my doorbell. Do you have any recommendations??

@haroon597

I don't have any recommendations on doorbell chimes or transformers.

Would you know a place/website that sell chimes/transformers for this doorbell? I wonder if I could pick one up from a local store.

@haroon597

If you want to install a transformer and indoor chime to use with your battery doorbell, you'll have to run doorbell wires to your doorbell's location in your doorframe, connect your doorbell to those wires, and connect the transformer to your home's electrical supply.

You'll need to know some basics about electrical wiring, as illustrated in this page from Wayfair:

Your transformer needs to meet Google Nest's requirements:

You could take those requirements to a local hardware store or home improvement store when purchasing a chime, transformer, and doorbell wiring.
