Google nest doorbell seasonal chime not rotating

Hi. I enabled the seasonal doorbell chime and it does sound every time you press the doorbell. But I've noticed that, given that we only have a few visitors a day, it always plays the same tune (the 12 days of Christmas). However, if it is pressed frequently the tune rotates between several seasonal-themed variations. I noticed the same thing at Halloween too so it's not just Christmas.

I'm not certain what time interval constitutes 'frequently', but I know if you press it again within a few seconds you do get different tunes.

So my question is this: why doesn't it rotate between the tunes of the season when used infrequently?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Hi paulmannix,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize for the frequent pressing of the Nest Doorbell button, which prevents the seasonal chime from ringing according to the set season. Let’s work together to find a solution.

For this concern, please try to adjust the doorbell chime settings on the Google Home app. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Tap and hold your Nest Doorbell, then the More menu, and then Settings.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron

Hi Byron.

Thanks for taking the time to look into my questions.

The doorbell does have the seasonal chime, but it is always The 12 Days Of Christmas unless the doorbell is rung frequently in which case other Christmas-themed tunes play on rotation. When it is rung infrequently the same tune is played each time (The 12 Days).

I would like it to play the rotation of chimes even when used infrequently.

Do you know why this is?

Thanks and regards,

Paul

Hi paulmannix,

Thank you for your response and detailed information.

I just want to confirm:

  • What type of Nest Doorbell do you have?

Based on the information provided, try to restart your Nest Doorbell. Please do the following steps:

  • Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the doorbell.
  • Press and hold for 5 seconds.
  • Your doorbell will restart, and the status light will be a steady and solid white.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron

Hi Byron,

It's a Nest Doorbell Battery. I'll try resetting it and will let you know the outcome. That will be tomorrow now.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Regards,

Paul
