I installed a Nest Gen 2 doorbell. Everything works great except the chime doesn't sound in the house when the button is pressed.
Anyone else have this issue with a Heath/Zenith 74 hardwired Multi-Tune chime?

Hello, My first question is did you install the small white circular disk (the CHIME Connector) inside your existing door bell? If not you need to do that. Here is a YouTube video showing how.

If you did that and it still isn't working then go into the Google Home app and view the video from the doorbell then go into the SETTINGS (gear icon) and you should see and option for CHIME DURATION. select that and then try changing the doorbell type to Electronic and see if that makes a difference.
Let me know if either of this make it work.

Yes we installed the chime connector first. I watched the same video when we did the install. We went ahead and changed the transformer from a 16VAC/10VA to a 16VAC/30VA. We turned on the electronic switch and played with the timing already. Nothing seems to change, it still won't chime in the house. I tried removing the puck and the chime plays all the time until I re-attached the puck. As long as the puck is attached, it will not chime. I remove the puck and doorbell and put the old Ring unit on and the chime in the house works perfectly. With the Nest unit and puck back on, I changed the tune selection on the chime and it still does not chime, but I get a notice on my phone that the doorbell was puched. Any other ideas.

So It is my understanding that the reason behind the need for the PUCK is because the nest doorbell draws power all the time from the transformer which means there is a small trickle amount of electric going back to the chime and that is why the doorbell plays all the time without the puck. Essentially it thinks the button is constantly pushed. The puck holds back the trickle until the full amount is needed to ring the chime.
I helped a friend install his RING doorbell and it also came with a puck. So I think all video doorbell cameras need this device. I just did a Google search on "ring camera compatible with Heath Zenith 74" and this list came up but it does NOT look like your model is on the compatible list.
Let me know what you think but you may need to buy a new doorbell. Maybe go and buy a new door chime and connect it up first with the puck and see if it works? This just might just be one of those projects that grows into a monster, LOL.

Still won't ring the inside chime.
What is a good chime to use with the Nest gen 2?

My Ring unit was wired but also had a battery. The wires kept the battery charged.

I don't know what chimes will work and which ones won't. But I bet there is a good chance that the ring list I sent you will most likely apply to the Nest Doorbell since they puck they are pretty much the same.

Talked with Zaherul Hasham at Nest and he said my chime connector was bad and sent me a new one. The new one lasted 3 days and then it failed. It looks like Nest has a bad design chime connector.

Hello 146Edward. Thanks for the update. I have been monitoring this forum for about 3 years an d usually the chime adapters are very stable and don't break. I'm not sure why it failed on you after 3 days.
