I have two brand new nest cams I purchased and they work great other than the fact they MUST remain plugged in to work… that’s all good but I need them to work outside on battery alone for awhile and the description says they do… BUT once I remove the cable they go idle and don’t pick up motion anymore nor do I get alerts at work. Googles answer was to keep it on live to watch all day (I teach and cannot) and to send me a second charger cord??? I need them in the barn where I can’t reach chargers… anyone know an answer to this problem?

We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for over a year, plugged in all the time with the optional power cable. (We happened to have an outdoor outlet close enough.) If we unplug it, it goes into "Idle" mode and does poorly on detecting events. I've seen posts here from other customers reporting poor detection of events when the camera is on battery power.

Thank you. I talked to Google once again and some friends that have the same cameras
I am just dumbfounded how Google can sell & advertise these as battery powered camera bc they simply don’t work that way

I am really disappointed in the cameras. They work excellent when plugged in but the sales pitch says they work without being plugged in… the absolutely do NOT work well as wireless cams and will not snap images or even go off when I walk in front of them. I need some in areas where I have no power cord so I feel a bit duped. This was confirmed by Google when I called tech support and others who have the cameras. A lot of money for them not to work as advertised 🙁

When it comes to keeping your Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (battery) up and running, here are some articles and troubleshooting guides for the best charging practices:
I hope those articles help shed some light on charging and maintaining battery levels of your Nest doorbell or camera. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Brad

I have gone through all of those already as well as three calls to Google tech support and individual owners for help.
Bottom line is my cameras WILL NOT be triggered to motion at all unless they stay plugged in.

So is there anything Google can do to make this right since the advertising says they work on battery (but actually do not with a subscription)? I mean false advertising is kinda accurate in this situation...

Wow.. what great customer service. Geez. 🙄
At least everyone can read this who is considering a purchase. Engineering & advertisement policies at Google are sadly very lacking 🙁
