Help adding new camera to Nest NOT Google Home

Galu

I have been using Nest for years but when I recently tried to add a new battery camera within the Nest app it redirects to Google Home.  My camera set up in Google Home but not Nest App.  How does one add to Nest?

I hope Google isn't trying to migrate everyone away from Nest App!

Unfortunately that’s exactly what’s happening. All new 2021 Nest cameras are not compatible with the Nest app. It’s a real shame.

Thanks for responding Brad.  Did you run a test pilot before implementing this? As a prior Nest App user, I now have cameras in Nest and a new one in Google Home App.  Makes no sense to force customers to use two apps.  I have to click into multiple layers on the Home App just to find imagery on my camera on Home App and it doesn't have the same UI for reviewing video history.  Extremely disappointed here...so much so that I am going to abandon Nest and Home App for a different solution.

I want a refund.  Google Home App UI experience is terrible for cameras

Is there any possibility that Google will reverse this decision based on all of the negative feedback from previous nest app users.

I’d say not a chance. It’s very difficult for people to admit they screwed up…

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

P.S Thanks for your help, @Rubes!
