Home Cameras instead of Nest

My DropCam was replaced free of charge. The new camera is not displayed in my Nest group, only in the Home Group. How do I get activity alerts in the Home group, how do I allow access to other members of my family to the Home Group of cameras?

@billwulff

There really is no such concept as a "Nest group" versus a "Home group".

The newer, 2nd gen cameras and doorbells that have been released since Sept. 2021 work only in the Google Home app (and on the home.google.com website), and notifications come through the Google Home app. 1st gen cameras and doorbells continue to work in the Google Nest app (and on the home.nest.com website) and get their notifications through the Google Nest app, though they can be accessed to some extent in the Google Home app (and on the home.google.com website), provided that you're logging onto the Google Nest app using the "Sign on with Google" option and are logging onto both apps (and both websites) with the same Google Account, and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps.

All members of the same Google Nest "home/structure" can access and get notifications from both 1st gen and 2nd gen cameras and doorbells.

Hi folks,

Thanks for chiming in, @MplsCustomer

@billwulff, thanks for reaching out to us. Let's get this fixed for you.

To add a new DropCam to your Nest home structure, launch the Nest app on your mobile device and log in with the same account associated with your cameras. Go to the home screen and tap on your preferred home structure to access its settings. From there, click on the "Add Camera" button and follow the prompts to add your new DropCam. Customize its activity alerts by enabling desired alert types, adjusting sensitivity, and scheduling. To allow other family members to access the cameras, manage users or invite people in the Nest app and specify the level of access you want.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
