I have wired doorbell that won't ring unless pressed multiple times

I've had my doorbell for several years and now it will not ring unless pressed multiple times.  The camera doesn't kick off and I don't get notification of a ring, so I suspect it's a mechanical issue in the actual doorbell.  Is this repairable?  I can't find the tools in the app to manually cause it to test the ringer.

Hi thunderjones,

Yikes! If your doorbell is not ringing consistently unless pressed multiple times, it's possible that there could be a mechanical issue with the doorbell itself. Check on the following:

  1. Ensure that your doorbell has a stable power supply. If it's a wired doorbell, verify that the wiring connections are secure and that there's no damage to the wires. If it's a battery-powered doorbell, make sure the battery is fully charged or replace it with a fresh one.
  2. Over time, dirt, debris, or corrosion can accumulate around the doorbell button, causing it to become less responsive. Gently clean the button and the surrounding area using a soft cloth or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Be cautious not to damage any electronic components.
  3. Double-check all the connections between the doorbell button and the internal components of the doorbell. Ensure that they are securely attached and that there are no loose wires or disconnected terminals.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
