Nest cameras alert sound alert

Hello.  I just updated to ios 17 and now the alert sound is just a small, almost inaudible blip.  Is there any way to change it back to what it was before updating?  Messages does not use this sound.

I am also having same issue since I updated to iOS 17.0 as well and can’t seem to find a solution.

I'm sure they did since it happened with the update, but it will probably take google and a nest app update to fix it.

What I should have said is that nest needs to have a way to change it and not rely on apple's default sound.  It's a crap way to do it.  Unless apple changes the default back it will be up to nest to do just that.......which I am not holding my breath.  Either way it's pretty much worthless now.

I agree 100%, same problem here and no way to find where that small bio is coming from.

update to 17.2 to correct it.

Same here, update to 17.2 works. Have the ability to change default app notification sound. !

But I still think Google home app should have its own configuration so you can choose something distinctive.

Curiously, Apple did NOT reduce the volume on Google Nest notifications on the Apple Watch with the watchOS 10 update that accompanies iOS 17.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. I appreciate your reports here. Let's check it out.

Please try to uninstall and then reinstall the Nest or Google Home app from the Apple App Store and see if it helps.

If the issue persists, hopefully, our friends at the Apple Support Community will be able to help you.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Best,

Lance

Tried reinstall and change some notifications sound without success.

With iOS version 17.2, it is ok now because they added an option for default sound notification. But Google app should have its own. It is a security app so you should be able to have a distinctive sound and not the default for all apps without configuration option.

It is October 26, 2023 and Apple released IOS 17.1 today  Sadly they made no effort to change the in-audible  alert sound for 3rd party apps or offer a way to select an alternate sounds.     This is so disappointing.  😫

This is on nest.  It’s lazy for app dev’s to rely on the default notification and not have a way to change.  It’s not up to apple to make a way for nest to change notification sounds.

Has anyone found a direct path to fix this issue? My alarm went off yesterday and I didn’t even notice until ADT called me. What good is an alarm if I am not notified? This should be a feature for Google Nest and ADT. Apple has never had options for sounds in devices like Androids offer. Big fail on both ends.

Apple DOES have options for sounds.  This is Nest’s app, not apple’s.  It’s not up to apple to make it where you can change the sounds in nest’s app.

The ONLY direct path to fixing this is nest making an option to change the sound, not rely on the default sound.

It’s flat out lazy coding by nest, the same for any app that has no way to change the sound.

@Xsquid

Is it really true that Apple provides the ability to have Sound options for non-Apple apps? I'm asking because I just reviewed the Notifications options for all of the apps on my iPhone, and the only apps that have Sound choices are these 5 Apple apps: FaceTime, Mail, Messages, Phone, and Reminders.

The ability is there.  I only checked one app.  Whatsapp and I can change it.  The ability is there, many just do not code theirs to be able to.

November 28, 2023:  Some possible good news on this.  I just read in MacWorld today that in a few weeks Apple will release IOS Version 17.2 and it will let us change the alerts sounds.   Excerpt:   "Change default alert sound: The default notification sound changed from Tri-Tone to Rebound in iOS 17.   In 17.2, you can go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Default Alerts to change this default sound."

Thanks for the update

BIG NEWS on this topic.  Today (12/11/2023) Apple released IOS 17.2.  And you can now change the default alert sound for 3rd party iPhone apps including the Nest app.   After you install the update go into SETTING then SOUNDS & HAPTICS and scroll down until you see DEFAULT ALERTS.  There are many setting there but you can now change it back to the sound that was there before IOS 17 which was called TRI-TONE.

... there can now be peace once again in my iPhone world, LOL

Thanks. Still wish it was possible to use a custom notification sound

Thank you! I updated to 17.2 and it works!!
