I've recently installed a Nest Doorbell. When someone rings the doorbell I get a push notification on my Google Pixel 8 Pro that says 'Someone rang front door doorbell' (or something like that). But when I tap on the notification nothing happens, the notification just disappears.
There is no way to respond to the person who just rang the doorbell.
The only way I can talk to the person at the front door is if I quickly go to my Google Home app, open the doorbell tab, and click the live feed button and start talking through the doorbell. This takes, a good 45-60 seconds to do, plus usually a minute to stop what I'm doing and pick up my phone, plus there is a fair amount of delay before the audio and livestream start to work. And usually by that time the person has left.
It just seems useless to get a notification that someone is at my front door if I can't respond in time.
I would have assumed tapping on the push notification would allow me to quickly respond to the person at the front door. Without having to stuff around opening the Google Home app and opening the doorbell tab and activating live streaming.
Is there a setting I can change anywhere to improve this workflow?

Hi AndrewChan,
Yikes! I'm sorry to hear what you're experiencing with your Nest Doorbell and the notification response workflow. Please note that the user interface and functionality of the Nest app can vary over time due to updates and improvements. It's possible that the workflow you described may not be available with the current version of the app. Kindly check on the following:
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
