Nest Hello - Wired. Old fashioned doorbell / chime / 2 wires / 14 V
Before I started, the old doorbell and chime were working fine and the voltage at the doorbell was 14V. I installed the chime connector and tested the old doorbell - only 1 of 2 hammers work and it's quiet. I then installed the Nest Hello outside - it works fine - but the chime stopped working completely.
I tried it without the chime connector and can hear a constant humming, so reinstalled the chime connector.
Is this a defective chime connector? How do I get it replaced?
It seems that some people cut the push-in connectors and directly wire it - is it a flakey connection - does that help?
