Indoor/outdoor (battery) detection range

This camera doesn't pick up people until they are about 8 feet from the camera. This is unacceptable at this price point.

Hi there,

I apologize for the late reply. Do you still need help with this? We recommend using the app to check that your camera has a clear view of what you want. See Tips for camera placement to learn more.

It has a perfectly clear view.  The camera just can't see past 8 feet. It doesn't detect motion/people until they're right in front of the camera. I noticed this when setting up a Nest battery cam for someone wanting to watch their driveway. It won't even pick up the driveway. I thought that was odd so I checked the range on mine and it's just as bad. In both cases the cameras have wide open views.

@Brandonz

Nest Cam (battery) has a 130° diagonal field of view. So anything outside of that is not going to alert you. You can try to focus on certain areas and remove other areas if you are getting too many alerts for detection by setting up Activity Zones.

Brad

Hey Brandonz,

Appreciate the help, Brad. I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help? Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,

Archie

I'm not really sure what can be done. The camera is pointed directly at my walk path.  It just doesn't detect movement very far away.  This should be listed in the specs.
