Installation nest doorbell battery with existing commax Video DoorPhone

jbraunll

Hi, I am trying to install a nest doorbell battery and use the existing chime. The problem is that I have this Commax (DPV-4AE)  Video Doorphone with Camera DRC-403DF. The chime+camera panel has four cables instead of the two shown in videos, presumably two for the chime and two for the camera. I have tried every combination of wires with no success, doorbell is always on battery and the chime doesn't work. I don't care about the Doorphone camera since I have the nest, but I need the chime to work.

Thanks

Hi jbraunll,

Thanks for reaching out. Try these troubleshooting steps and let me know how it goes.

  1. Confirm if the Nest Doorbell (battery) receives power.
In the Google Home app:  tap Favorites or Devicesand thentap and hold your device's tileand thenMoreMore menuand thenSettingsand thentap Battery to confirm if the doorbell is connected.
  2. Verify that Ring indoor chime is enabled.
In the Google Home app: tap Favorites or Devices and thentap and hold your device's tileand thenMoreMore menuand thenSettingsand thentap Doorbell and then and make sure that Ring indoor chime is toggled On.
  3. Do you have a digital chime? If so, is the doorbell set to digital chime?
    • In the Google Home app: tap and hold your device's tileand thenMoreMore menuand thenSettingsand thentap Doorbell and then set Have a digital chime to Yes.
    • If the chime still doesn't ring, ask the customer to set the chime duration longer.
  4. Make sure Quiet Time is disabled.
In the Google Home app:  tap Favorites or Devices\ and thenselect your cameraand then tap Menu at the lower rightand thentap Quiet time, then tap Stop to disable Quiet time.

Thanks a lot. I guess I have a more basic problem with the wiring. I have four wires and haven’t been able to get power on the doorbell.

Hi jbraunll,

Got it. Some doorbell systems have a built-in intercom, gate control, or a doorbell that's located far from your home (such as an outside gate). These systems typically don't work with the Nest doorbell.

In this case, there are a couple of options:

  1. Install the Nest doorbell with the indoor power adapter. You can plug your doorbell into an indoor power outlet.
  2. Install a battery-powered Nest doorbell so that you don't need to connect it to the system wires.

Check out this link for more information.

Juni
