Installing a Nest doorbell replacing a door entry doorbell system.

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot upload images or documents to this to show what I have but I will try and explain. I have a Enterview 5 doorbell system which has the doorbell at the door, a power pack in the loft which is which is approximately 3 meters from the front door and according to the wiring diagram I have found is wired to the wall monitor/screen in the lounge. The screen is approx 10m from the front door and again according to the diagram the screen is then wired to the doorbell. I hope this is possible and another question is how would I hear a chime, I was wondering if the screen would become live when the doorbell is pushed so could wires be taken from there to add a chime.

Hi Paulc1978,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Doorbell. Installing a Nest Doorbell to replace your existing Enterview 5 doorbell system is possible, but it may require some adjustments to the wiring and setup. Here are some general steps to consider:

  1. Ensure that the Nest Doorbell you have is compatible with your existing doorbell wiring and transformer. Check the voltage requirements and compatibility guidelines for Nest Doorbell here.
  2. Before starting any installation or wiring modifications, turn off the power to the doorbell system by switching off the circuit breaker that supplies electricity to it. This step is essential for safety.
  3. Take out the existing Enterview 5 doorbell from the front door area. Disconnect the wiring connected to the doorbell carefully. Note the wires and their connections, as you will need to connect them to the Nest Doorbell later.
  4. Follow the instructions to install Nest Doorbell (wired) l using the existing wiring. Typically, this involves connecting the wires to the appropriate terminals on the Nest Doorbell unit. Make sure to connect the wires securely.
  5. Power on the system: Once the wiring is complete, restore power to the doorbell system by turning on the circuit breaker. The Nest Doorbell should now have power.
  6. Follow the Nest app's instructions on how to connect your Nest Doorbell to Wi-Fi. This will allow you to access the doorbell's features and receive notifications on your mobile device or other connected devices.

Regarding the chime functionality, Nest Doorbells typically have built-in chimes that can be heard through the Nest app on your mobile device. However, if you prefer a traditional chime sound, you may need to purchase a separate compatible chime unit from Nest which is the Wasserstein Wireless Chime for Nest Doorbell (wired)

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe

Hiya, thanks for the reply. So I haven't brought the doorbell as of yet but as you say this is possible for a replacement of the Enterview system I will now make the purchase.
