Internal camera won’t see through windows due to reflection of its own light.

Just installed 2 internal Nest cameras specifically to ‘watch’ what is going on outside (security). Fine by daylight but at nightime we get a reflection against the glass from the camera’s light and see nothing outside at all, which defeats the purpose of having it. I am not happy with an external one due to coastal conditions and corrosion etc

Hi Brad,

we live in a windy coastal site which I fear would not allow continued usage of an external cam. So yes, you have answered my question but it isn’t the answer I wanted to hear! I was hoping for a fix for my issue, but it seems like there isn’t one. Thanks for responding anyway

I doubt that anything can be done about that given your mounting choice. Maybe you should cover the cameras IR LED and mount a outdoor IR floodlight?

Thanks, I am afraid this is the sensible alternative but I’ll hang on in this forum in case anyone has a bright idea in the meantime. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hey folks,

The Indoor Nest cams are not meant to be facing outside of glass or any other reflective surface. If you have an Outdoor cam, that would be a better option for you if you want to have a clear view at night outside.

Brad.
