Is my transformer DC?

The transfomer on my old doorbell chime shows 16V 10VA.  Since it doesn’t say AC, does that mean it’s a DC transformer?

Hello, I'm an end user as well.  More than likely it is AC.   If it is just the raw transformer with no other electronics visible then it is probably AC as the some electronics are required to convert any transformer from AC to DC.  The only way I know of to know for sure is to use a volt meter.
