Maybe I'm going mad here, but I can't find a way to get my google speakers to just play a doorbell chime without announcing "there's somebody at the frontdoor doorbell" - It seems absolutely absurd to me that anyone wants to hear more of their google assistant talking.
It also seems crazy to me that I can't find a way to set the doorbell at a fixed volume, it's tied to whatever volume my speaker was last at. If I've been listening to music quietly in the small hours and someone rings the doorbell the next day, it's not audible if you're in a different room. If you've been listening to loud music, likewise the doorbell going off the next day can be a startling experience

Google Nest does NOT provide us with a way to get just a doorbell chime without the announcement for "visitor announcements" on our Nest speakers, or to separately set the volume of "visitor announcements".

Well it's good to know I'm not just being thick. Within seconds of testing it for the first time, I could already see what a huge flaw in the product this is.
Luckily I have an old Google home mini which I've set up in the hallway at a high volume with the mic off to just act as a speaker for the doorbell. Doesn't solve the irritation of the announcement but oh well
