Loop on connecting nest cam

timbrigham

I have five cameras throughout my property. The four outdoor cams I am working on migrating to a new wireless network (I bought an outdoor weatherproof wap with massive antennas for better coverage).

So far I've only tried migrating two. The first worked no issues - remove from Google home, factory reset and readd with the new network.

The second camera is in a loop on the setup screen at "connecting". This worked for months prior.

I'm at a loss. The only other discussions I've seen in on this are for IOS devices, but I have a pixel 7, my whole home is Google ecosystem. What am I missing here?

Hi timbrigham,

Thanks for posting in our Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your Nest cameras. Let’s check it out.

Just to be sure we’re on the same page, are you setting up the Nest Cam (battery) or the Nest Cam with Floodlight? After the factory reset, did the status light of the camera turn pulsing blue?

Let’s try the troubleshooting steps below.

  1. Save any video history on the device, if any. Follow this guide.
  2. Unmount the device and then connect it to the USB cable and power adapter.
  3. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the device.
  4. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paper clip or a thumbtack).
    1. At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    2. At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  5. Release the button. Your device will restore to its factory settings.
  6. After the factory reset, your device will appear as "Offline" in the app until you remove it.
  7. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings > Remove device>  Confirm.
  8. Make sure the phone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  9. Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone, such as earbuds, smartwatches, etc.
  10. Cellular data should be turned off.
  11. Start adding the device back to the Google Home app.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Lance

Hello timbrigham,

I wanted to follow up and see if you’re still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Regards,

Lance

Lance, I think the button was just crusty from hard water. I'm good now. Thanks!
