I have 4 older cameras on NEST app. When I purchased a new camera it forced me to add it to google home - I never use or check google home - how can I move it over to the NEST app?

Unfortunately, Google Nest decided that its new cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website. As a result, we've been using two apps for our Google Nest cameras and doorbells since Sept. 2021 when we bought one of the new cameras and found this out.

Last week, Google Nest announced some updates that will be coming. We are HOPING this means that all of our Google Nest cameras will be brought into the same app and will be able to use one website for browser access:

Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback on this, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest cams in the Nest app like you may be used too. However, you can now use the Google Home web app to view your cameras and doorbells.

The new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Brad,

Thanks for addressing this.

I am happy to have my apps consolidated, but the camera interface, particularly when scrolling through the past, is inferior in the google app when compared to the nest app. I do hope with updates we can see the best of both worlds here. I would feel as though I have lost significant value in my smart home if I were to lose the ability to easily scroll through the past on my cameras, it’s an incredibly valuable feature.

Sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the direction that Google Nest is heading with their apps. We’re always looking for ways to improve, and appreciate your feedback. You can send it at any time using your devices, following the steps found here. Please let me know if you need help with anything else.

Best regards,
Brad

After seeing JP‘S post I thought I’d give some perspective after using both for a while - I’ve had the one camera for the google app for several months now, the result is that I just don’t use it as much. To buy a customer base and then switch it for something inferior it’s a business strategy that I’m pretty sure goes squarely against google’s company motto. I’d follow up with that one of the most important features in a smart home is redundancy, very often something might glitch and you need to take another route, having things all run through Google as well is very useful in this respect, but the idea that one app needs to do everything is something that seems more like a business decision than seeking to deliver a superior product, one app for everything works out to potentially integrate so much to me more cumbersome than streamlined.

I'm going to jump in and say that I am also really disappointed with Google about this.  I already had four Nest cameras in the Nest app.  I just bought three more and only after installing them realized I'd have to use them in the Google Home app.  So now my cameras are in two different places AND the google home app is not nearly as good as the Nest app.  Please fix this ASAP Google.  You say you wanted to create an integrated experience with other devices; that's fine.  But we are the buyers of these products (cameras, in this case) and you should let *us* decide which app we want to use them in.  You should not force us into one app or another.

I am having the same issue, is It their intention to phase out the Nest app altogether?

Having to manage two apps is deplorable. Google has their head where the sun doesn’t shine. How fan they not give us all of the features available on the Nest app and expect users to be satisfied. Cant set up zones, familiar faces hard to manage I could go on…

Is Google working on a solution or did we just puchase Nest Aware to give them money and no services rendered.
