My Nest Cam (GJQ9T) Wont Factory Reset

LWH

Maybe I'm doing something wrong because I have the same issue with 2 of these cameras.

With a paperclip I press and hold in the reset button on the bottom of the camera (between the neck and the power cord) ... but the camera keeps a steady yellow blink ... and it wont configure using Nest (iphone or Web) or Google Home (iphone).

Help Please?!

@LWH

Are you holding the reset button down for at least 12 seconds, as indicated in these instructions?

1. Locate the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. It’s between the power cord and the camera neck.

2. Insert a paper clip, thumbtack or similar into the hole. Press and hold down.

At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
At 12 seconds, the status light will be solid yellow. When the camera begins resetting, you’ll hear a confirmation tone.

3. Release the button. Your camera will restore to its factory settings.

You cannot reinstall a 2nd gen Google Nest camera in the Google Nest app.

Thanks for the reply.   Yes, I am holding it for maybe 25 seconds.   Tried it on 2 different cameras with no change in the blinking.

I am having a very similar issue.  Although the two cameras I reboot perform the countdown and then the light goes to a blinking blue light, but the Home app still does not recognize either camera.

They were on another network and were removed from the Home app AFTER the wifi was changed.  I.e., these steps were not performed:

Nest Cam (wired)

Remove your camera from the app

Note: Your camera needs to be connected to Wi-Fi for it to be removed from the app and factory reset.

  1. Open the Home app or the Nest app.
  2. Tap the camera that you want to reset

Can the cameras be reset on the new WiFi?

Hi folks,

@LWH and @POWER2120, yikes! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties resetting and configuring your Nest cameras. Follow these steps and skip the ones you already did:

  1. To reset your Nest Camera, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the light turns solid yellow. Release the button, and the camera should restart.
  2. To complete the setup process, ensure your camera is within range of a stable Wi-Fi connection. If the signal is weak or unstable, consider moving the camera closer to the router or using a Wi-Fi extender to improve signal strength.
  3. To ensure proper Wi-Fi network functionality, check your network settings, ensure broadcasting, and avoid using advanced security features that might hinder camera connection. Reboot your router to refresh the network connection.
  4. To set up and configure your Nest Camera, use the appropriate app, either the Nest app or Google Home app, depending on your camera model. Ensure the latest version is installed and follow the correct setup instructions for your camera model.

Let us know how that works.

Best,

Zoe

That is not working.

@LWH

It seems odd that the reset button would be failing on TWO of your cameras. Sometimes it is tricky to get the reset button to actually depress using a paper clip. If you can't get to to work, you could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:
