I'm having the same issue with the Nest Camera (battery). It's terribly frustrating that I can't view everything on the Nest App which way more user friendly than the Home app. What a flop. I hope Google corrects this soon. I wouldn't have purchased the camera if I had known this.

I completely agree. I just installed mine to find it won't connect to the nest app which works much better than Google home. How disappointing!

All my other cameras work on the best app but my new battery nest doorbell. Please fix this issue. I see where you can add a wired doorbell but not battery.
I much prefer the nest app to the Google home app.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand your concern about the features that are not available from the Google Home app. New versions of Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbells can only be set up and controlled through the Google Home App. We don't have any news to share about when the other features of Nest app will be available to Google Home app. I'd suggest you send feedback about your concern using this form to let the Google Engineering team know about this. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this.
