NC017 error on IQ Outdoor Cam

TMDc8

Hello,

Hoping someone can help!  I have two IQ Outdoor Cams that I have being using for almost 2 years.  We decided to setup everything under a general gmail account instead of a personal one.

I was successful with the doorbell,  but my cameras won’t connect to my Nest account.  I get the NC017 error.

It picks up the wifi, tests it and then stalls out when it gets to “Setting up the Nest Network” it throws the NC017 error.

Any ideas how to remedy is appreciated.  It worked fine for 2 years so this is a bit maddening.

@TMDc8

You might need to try contacting Google Nest Support at https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp to see if they can tell you what an "NC017" error really means. On the Google Nest Help page (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9240048?hl=en#camera_connection_problem&zippy=%2Cnc-err...), "NC017" is one of 34 different "Help Codes" for "Your camera experienced a connection problem". Hopefully, you get a Support person who can tell you EXACTLY what "NC017" means. (Presumably, since Google Nest provides 34 different codes for connection problems, each one has a different meaning,)

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help here, MplsCustomer.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that and for the delayed response. We appreciate your efforts. Let's sort this out — a few questions: what's the status light of your Nest IQ Outdoor Camera? Did you change your router settings? How far is the camera from the router? What's the make and model of your phone? Also, what WiFi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

Try the troubleshooting steps here:

  • Close all the apps running in the background of your phone, reopen the Nest app.
  • Bring your phone closer to the camera at least 10 to 12 inches during pairing setup.
  • Unplug your camera from the power outlet for 20 seconds then plug it back in.
  • Make sure your phone’s WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on, and that it’s connected to the same WiFi network you want to use for your camera.
  • Power cycle your router for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Restart your phone.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT
