NEW 2nd Gen Nest Hub doesnt show camera feed when doorbell rings - As of July 2024

I ordered a brand new nest doorbell (battery) and a nest hub 2nd gen earlier in July 2024. It is not sending live camera feed when the doorbell is pressed, and this is from the very beginning of setup, the issue exists for me till date. Here is a list of things that works and do not work, and what I have tried to resolve. I completely understand there are couple of similar posts for this issue and that it has been automatically resolved by google as I understand. I am absolutely stunned how a brand new system fails to show the live camera feed when that is the sole purpose. I am pretty determined to trash/send it back to google if this issue is not resolved as quickly as possible. Extremely disappointed with this product.

1) The doorbell and nest hub set up fine as required -- sends notifications on my iOS phone and I can see everything working well with my phone

2) As mentioned above, it does not show the live camera feed on my nest hub when someone rings the doorbell, though it displays the notification and announces that someone is at the front door

3) No, I do not have chime--- so no troubleshooting there

4) I have restarted my modem-router for refreshing WiFi, restarted nest hub several times -- nothing worked

5) Checked settings on my front door bell and have selected video announcements on, and everything else as it should be -- nothing works

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by troubleshooting a well-set up and brand new system, anyone who has a fix apart from what I wrote here, if you could please share, will appreciate it!

Hi MSKV,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) and Nest Doorbell. But no worries, I’d be happy to help you. Let’s check it out.

I understand that you have already followed some basic troubleshooting, so let's try these advanced steps:

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • Check for Interference: Other devices like cordless phones or microwaves can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Try moving the devices further apart.
  • Test Doorbell Stream: Say "Hey Google, show me [doorbell name]" to confirm if a live video feed appears when the doorbell has not been pressed.
  • Enable Personal Results and Notifications: Ensure these are enabled in the Google Nest Hub settings within the Google Home app.
  • Disable Do Not Disturb: Check if "Do Not Disturb" is off on your Google Nest Hub. Go to the Google Home app, tap the device, then Settings, Notifications & digital well-being, and turn off "Do Not Disturb."

Last Resort: Factory Reset: If nothing works, consider factory resetting both devices. Be aware this erases all settings. Check these articles for guidance: Please check the following article to Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays and to Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.

You can also check the next one to Get doorbell visitor announcements on a speaker or display

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Mario

Hello Mario,

Thank you for writing. I tried all of your options one by one including factory resetting the google nest hub dispaly, and it has not fixed the issue still. As I mentioned earlier, I get the announcement but the it never shows the camera "camera feed is not available".

The only thing I have not done is restart or factory reset doorbell.

Hi MSKV,

We haven’t seen your form submission come through - were you able to access it alright? Let us know if you’re running into trouble or still need our help!

Mario

Hello Mario,

I just submitted the contact form you linked in your earlier message in this thread. I did the factory reset of nest doorbell and restarted the nest hub dispaly --- does not fix the issue still. When the doorbell is pressed it announces someone is at the front door doorbell but never shows the camera feed, instead shows the message "camera feed is not available". My phone's google home works all fine. The issue is with front door bell press--no camera info on nest hub display.

Could you tell me if there is a fix for this issue apart from all the options that we tried already? Thank you!
