Nest App and floodlight camera

When are you planning to enable the Nest Floodlight Camera in the nest app? The google home app is by far not as easy to use and I’m really disappointed that this is not working together.

Also i do think it it’s false marketing to sell a Nest Floodlight camera but then don’t make it available in the nest app. You should consider rebranding it into “google floodlight camera” in that case.

thanks

Steve

I totally agree with you, and I believe it is bad marketing, but they do disclose that these cameras do not work with the Nest App as the first item under the technical specifications on their website (store), however, Google is not going to add anything else to the Nest app. It is being deprecated in favor of the Google Home App. I am with you and have submitted feedback and talked to them about the name. If they are migrating everything away from Nest, why wouldn't they rebrand everything to any other name beside "Nest"?!? I have 6 of the Floodlights, and I completely understand why and where they are going, but it could have been managed much better. They could have built a better application so that people would WANT to migrate, but the Google Home app lacks functionality (like a simple schedule for the cameras). Poorly planned and designed. I'm OK with migrating to the Google Home app since there are many other "works with Google" products available in the app that would not work with the Nest App, but they should have never released a product, especially with the misleading name, and not supply half the functionality. I mean who would believe you would release security cameras that you have to manually enable or disable without a schedule or routine?!? They are coming out with the web interface (home.google.com) next year (2022), so that will help, but for now, we are the experiment I suppose. :o(

Agreed. Like BG said they do tell you that. I almost did not buy the floodlight because of the horrendous Google Home App. I actually considered going with Ring but in the end I did not because the Nest Floodlight looked better.  The Google Home App is just ugly and not as useful. I don't like the groupings it has and would prefer just a list of items similar to the KASA app. Or the nice Nest where it shows a preview of the camera and temps on the thermostats.
