Nest Cam IQ Outdoor - NC023 Error - can't factory reset

thecobfather

I have a Nest Outdoor IQ camera that had been operational for 4+ years.  While away a few weeks ago a storm came through and the camera stopped working.

I have disconnected from Nest app but when I try to add the camera back the install process stops when my iPhone tries to locate the camera it comes up and says something went wrong and provides the error code NC023.

I have seen another thread or two and have tried the steps that were recommended but to no avail.  the one fix that I have been unable to do is a factory reset.  I have unplugged and restarted the camera several times but no matter how long i hold in the reset button the camera doesn't appear to reset as no flashing/spinning lights appear regardless of how long I hold in the reset button.  Is there another option to factory reset?

thanks in advance for the help.

Since the NC023 error is supposed to mean a Bluetooth problem (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9240048?hl=en&sjid=1189515730151975868-NA#bluetooth_con...), you can make sure Bluetooth is working on your phone and your phone is close to the camera.

This may not help your current situation, but whenever our older Google Nest cameras lose power, we usually have to unplug them for a minute or so in order to get them back online.  (Nothing more.)  Many other customers in this forum have reported the same thing.

Hi thecobfather,

Thanks for posting in our Community. I’m sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor. No worries; let’s check it out.

Your camera's factory reset button is on the front side of the camera, below the Nest logo. Follow the steps below to factory reset the camera.

  1. Make sure your camera is plugged in and powered on before continuing.
    • Tip: To help restore your settings after resetting your camera, write down or take a screenshot of your camera settings.
  2. Press and hold your camera's reset button with a paperclip or thumbtack. When the light ring starts spinning blue, release the button. Your camera's lights will turn off while it's resetting.
    • Note: If you want to cancel the factory reset, release the button while the light is spinning yellow.
  3. The factory reset is complete when your camera chimes and the light ring starts slowly pulsing blue.
  4. After the factory reset, your camera will appear "Offline" in the app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings > Remove device > Confirm.
  6. If you're giving your camera to someone else, you're done. If you want to reconnect your camera to the app, simply go through the camera setup in the app again.

If you’re still getting the NC023 error code, follow this guide.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Best,

Lance

Lance,

Thanks for the information.  Unfortunately, my camera will not factory reset.  When plugged in the ring around the camera flashes blue but no matter how long I hold in the factory reset button with a paper clip the camera never starts the reset process.

Any thoughts on how to get a factory reset if the button won't initiate it?

Thanks.
Chris
