Nest Cam not recording since Google Home app took over

I have 3 nest cams, two of which are eligible to use the nest app and one of the newest that FORCES you to only use the Google Home app. A comparison:

1 the older cams that can be used with the actual Nest app send MUCH better notifications (google home app sometimes send them, but they’re always of a blank shot (not of the “action / person”)), and…

2 the nest app records history (I’m a subscriber) and google home literally deleted all history randomly. Same account, same “Home structure”. Even day 1 when I set it up on my porch, I’d walk right by it to test it out, slowly, and it wouldn’t even notice, and thus not record any “event”. 

It’s hard to think that google isn’t tanking Nest on purpose - maybe future plans to make their own camera line? Everyone, including me, said Nest was great with the nest app. Then google “updated” cameras that now only work with home app and it’s a dumpster fire. Anyone know why?

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration. 

 

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Thanks. Is there a way to get the previews / snapshots of the motions to be if the object that triggered the alert and not just of the first frame? My old nest shows me a preview of the person walking up, but the new nest cams just show a picture of a blank yard with no person in it - 100% of the time. And when I scroll through “event history” for the day, I have to literally play each clip to see what the clip was of because every preview image is just a blank yard / porch. I would never know if an intruder was at my door because I’m not going to watch 100+ clips a day, all with blank preview images and alert summaries.

It was created this way as far as I am aware. I do not believe that will change, but I would suggest submitting your feedback on the matter though in the app.
