Nest Cam with Floodlight Viewing Angle

Astrosapian

Hello,

I want to install a couple of Nest Cams with Floodlights at my house, one for the parking garage and one for the backyard.

The garage is 5.7m (wide) by 6m (deep), while the yard is 7.7m (wide) and 10m (deep).

I'm looking for the best location to place the cams so that they can capture as much as possible in each option. Ideally, I would like to place the cams in the middle of the (width) but I can't seem to find the Horizontal field of view for the cams, only the diagonal at 130 degrees. My thinking is to put the horizontal angle on the CAD and see if the cams can see all the areas or if a corner installation is better.

Does anyone know the horizontal fov? Advice is welcome, thank you

Hi Astrosapian,

Thanks for posting in the Community. I’d be glad to help you with your question.

While we don’t have a figure for the Nest Cam with Floodlight’s horizontal field of view, here are some details that I found.

Camera:

  • Single motion sensor
  • 110° horizontal field of view
  • Up to 25 ft (7.5 m)

Floodlight:

  • Two motion sensors
  • 180° horizontal field of view
  • Up to 25 ft (7.5 m)

You can check out this guide to learn more about the technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Lance
