Nest Cam with Floodlight

Purchased a nest cam with floodlight last week. Installed and everything worked great. Then my floodlight icon on Google Home app showed offline. Cam worked fine, and floodlight would activate with motion. 

I tried to fix by removing device from app, factory reset cam and relearning. Cam learns in just fine, no floodlight icon at all. Acts like it’s just the cam only. Yes I’m selecting floodlight during the install. Now the battery is draining super fast, down to 1% yet is getting power. Floodlight still turns on with Motion. 

I have repeated this process multiple times and still can only get the cam to learn into Home app. No light controls at all. Battery started charging again, up to 16% now. 

Any help would be appreciated….

I had the same exact issue, ended up getting it replaced under warranty in February. Now I noticed my floodlight icon has disappeared again. I feel like I’m starting all over again and that this purchase was a mistake. BTW customer service is bad, I spent many hours on the phone and sent many emails to get the exchange done and had to threaten google to get a refund after they charged me for the defective device because they only allow 21 days for the old device to be returned and the shipping took 19 days and it took me a week to install the new floodlight and get to UPS to drop off the old one. I also can’t believe a Nest product doesn’t work on the Nest app, how does that make any sense at all. I wish Nest was never bought by Google. I have an original Drop Cam by Nest, I’ve had it 9 years and have never had a single issue. I also have 14 other Nest products, this floodlight with nest cam is the first product that has given me issues.

Yes I am still having same issue. I haven’t had time to call into support to troubleshoot. 

Any ideas??

Hey folks.

 

I am sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your device! I would suggest that you look into lowering your settings if you are going to continue to keep the device as battery powered instead of the optional wired installation. I would personally, suggest that you install it as a wired unit if you are having these battery issues, but we have a great article that goes over how to save some battery with your device. Called in and got it working awhile ago, now it works maybe 50% of the time. Will show offline for a couple days in a row, then shows online for a couple days. I gave up trying to figure it out.

Still having issues on my already replaced under warranty floodlight. When is Google going to admit there is an issue with quality?
