Nest Cam with floodlight - Google Home App "Limitations"

Long time Google user here. 

I happily purchased the Nest Cam with floodlight with somewhat of an idea that it wouldn't be on the Nest App.

I assumed.. Google would make their Google Home App as functional, if not more so, than the Nest App.

I do not feel that this is the case. The interface on the Google Home App for the Nest Floodlight Cam does not have some of the abilities that the Nest App has when it comes to reviewing footage, and creating clips.

I have a Nest Aware subscription for 24/7 coverage for 60 days of backup, four Google Nest Outdoor Cams in addition to this Nest Cam with floodlight. 

Is there a timeline or any additional information about forthcoming improvements to the interface for the Nest Cam with floodlight?

I am very happy with the picture quality of the Nest Cam with floodlight, and the speedy responsiveness most of the time.

There have definitely been some feedback about the features or lack of in the Google Home app and I do hope that gets improved.

While your post here will get read by the Nest team I would advise you to also leave feedback via the Google Home app. Creating clips and reviewing footage is a priority for me and my cameras so I know that it is super important to have those features.

I just wanted to jump in real fast to see if you saw JillG's reply about sending feedback and to see if you still needed some help on this. If you are still needing some help, just let us know and we'll be happy to continue helping. I would also urge you to leave feedback and I'm putting the instructions for that below.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Tap Feedback and then tap the type of device you'd like to submit feedback for.
  4. To display available emails, in the "From:" section, tap the arrow on the right. Select your email address.
  5. In the feedback summary, write a brief description of your issue.
  6. Be sure to check the box for Screenshot and System logs.
  7. To submit feedback, at the top right corner, tap Send .
