Nest Cam with floodlight won't register it properly so when I go to live feed at night no camera

Hi

I had installed the Nest Cam with floodlight (hard wired) and was all working great. But then there was a power outage in the area and I had to hard re-set it. All fine. Set up all worked and streams fine. But it won't register the camera as hard wired now and when I turn live feed on at night the lights don't switch on.

The light's work fine if you walk in front of the sensor but not automatically come on when I look at it live, which it used to do

Any help or suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Lucas

Hi @Lucasrockon,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Cam with floodlight is having issues after a power outage. I understand the importance of getting the lights to work as expected, and I'd like to help you try a few more troubleshooting steps.

I understand that the camera streams fine and the motion sensor for the lights is working, but it won't register as hard-wired, and the lights don't switch on during a live feed. Let's work together to resolve this.

The "hardwired" status of the camera depends on a proper connection to the floodlight. Here is a consolidated set of steps to check both the software and hardware connections:

Check the power source setting in the Google Home app:

  • Open the Google Home app on your phone.
  • Select your Nest Cam with floodlight.
  • Tap Settings, then tap Video.
  • Look for the Power source option and ensure it is set to Wired.

Verify the floodlight's live view setting:

  • Go back to the main settings page for your camera.
  • Select Lights, then tap Behavior.
  • Make sure the Turn on lights during live view option is enabled.

Perform a physical power cycle and check the Pogo connector:

  • Disconnect the floodlight from its power source. You can either unplug it or switch the power off at the circuit breaker.
  • Carefully remove the Nest Cam from the floodlight mount.
  • Gently clean the Pogo connector and socket where the floodlight and camera connect.
  • Wait for at least 20 seconds, and then reconnect the power to the floodlight. The lights on the floodlight should light up for about 30 seconds to confirm it's operational.
  • Reattach the Nest Cam to the floodlight mount.

Please give these steps a try and let me know if they help resolve the issue. I'll be here to assist you further.

Regards,

Kevin
